In October, two high school students came to reinforce our team for one day to support the charity Youca. Flore and Isabeau, two sixth year students following Human sciences at Olvi - Boom, needed to find a job for one day, and they ended up at our company. Any money made from this day were donated to Youca to invest in their projects.
Youca is a global organization that, together with young people, is fighting against climate change. They give people the opportunity to make their projects in developing countries more ecological. They mainly focus on the emissions that are caused by growing the food on our plate. These emissions caused by agriculture contain a high percentage of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, and this needs to change. Thanks to the earnings of young people who are going to work on a massive scale, Youca is able to support several projects in Burkina Faso, Uganda and Ecuador. These projects are mainly focusing on providing local farmers with training in economic entrepreneurship.
Farmers from the Global South are particularly affected by the devastating power of climate change and its effects in their crops. Harvesting fails due to the ongoing droughts and the high - and rising - temperatures. Because of the training offered by Youca to the entrepreneurs, they can work in a more ecological manner and soften the effects caused by global warming.
At b.ignited we understand the importance of supporting such good causes, and were more than happy to welcome Flore and Isabeau to our crew for one day. The two enthusiastic girls reinforced our marketing team by finding ecological and sustainable gadgets for our employees and future colleagues. We look forward to welcome more students to support good causes like Youca.
