Eight weeks ago, we didn’t know what to expect from our internship at b.ignited. We assumed it would be your average IT company where interns mostly watch from the sidelines. But we were totally wrong.

From the very first day, we were welcomed as real team members, not just interns. Everyone took the time to answer our questions and help us start. That open and friendly atmosphere made a huge difference. It gave us the confidence to feel at home in the company, make mistakes, and keep learning.

The main focus of our internship was of course an internship project. Together with four other interns, we continued building on b.achieved, an application designed for employees of b.ignited to track their career path in a fun and gamified way, and helped turn it into a working MVP. It was a real team effort. We had daily stand-ups, code reviews, and deadlines, just like any professional software team. That experience taught us more about collaboration and communication than we ever expected.

As Data & AI students, we knew this internship would push us into unfamiliar territory. We worked with technologies we had never used before, like React and AWS Lambda. The learning curve was real, but that was exactly the point. Every challenge we ran into taught us something new, and there was always someone available to help us through it.

We also picked up a lot of skills that go beyond the technical side. We learned why software testing matters, how to manage our time on a real project, and what it actually looks like to work in a professional development team. These are things you simply cannot learn from a textbook.

But what we will remember most is our colleagues. The atmosphere at b.ignited is hard to describe without sounding cliché, but it genuinely felt like more than just a workplace. Colleagues were always willing to help or start a conversation, and everyone seemed to actually care about how we were doing. It made coming to work something to look forward to.

We are leaving this internship with stronger technical skills, a much better understanding of how software is built in practice, and a lot more confidence in ourselves. Most importantly, we are leaving ready for what comes next.

Thank you to everyone at b.ignited for the trust, the guidance, and the great experience. We hope to see the project and the company continue to grow, and we wish every future intern the same great eight weeks that we had.
